There's plenty to see and do in the waters of Shinagawa!


1F - THE SEA SURFACE FLOOR

A Waterfall cascades into a mountain stream,becomes a river,and then flows into the Tokyo Bay.You will be able to observe these recreated scenes,the tidal flats and rocky shores of the Tokyo Bay,and the creatures that inhabit them.An audio and visual presentation provides a glimpse of the many expressions of the sea created by wind and ocean currents.There is also a stadium where you can enjoy, dolphin shows, and sea lion shows.


1. THE RIVER FLOWING INTO TOKYO BAY
  A waterfall cascading into a mountain stream,and upstream,midstream and downstream scenes have each been recreated.Waterbirds can also be observed.
2. DRY BEACH AND ROCKY SHORE IN TOKYO BAY
  Enjoy some fresh encounters with creatures that inhabit the sands,mud,tidal flats and rocky shores of Tokyo Bay.
3. SEA OF SHINAGAWA TODAY
  A diorama and living creatures are used to recreate the sea around Shinagawa as it is today.
4. MARINE LIFE FOUND IN TIDAL BASINS
  Enjoy this amazing drama of tidal ebbs and flows played out by nature every day.

8. SCHOOLING FISH
  True sardine and yellow sea bream are two types of fish that swim in schools.Brimming with functional beauty,they swim on continuously.
9. INVITATION TO THE GREAT OCEAN
  A huge tank containing 500 tons of water stands before you.As many as 1,500 fish of 80 species swim around gracefully in this enormous tank.

B1 - THE SEA BOTTOM FLOOR

The tunnel water tank will let you experience the many mysteries of the great ocean.You will be able to observe large freshwater fish in the tropical rainforest,recreated by sound,light,and a rainsquall,as well as fish with unusual appearances or ways of living.Also,there are areas where you can use a turtle-shaped robot installed with a camera to feel like you are actually swimming with the fish,test your knowledge of fish and other marine creatures by a computer quiz,and actually touch creatures such as a starfish.

  Installed with an internal camera,this turtle-shaped robot will make you feel like you are actually enjoying a swim with the fish.

  Four directed transformation water tanks introduce jellyfishes to dance elegantly and the habits.
15. QUIZ CORNER
  Test your knowledge on fish and other marine creatures via this computer quiz.You'll have great fun while becoming an oceanologist for a day.
16. TOUCHING POOL
  Slide your fingers along a starfish and the likes.Be gentle though!
17. JEWELS OF THE SEA
  Butterflyfish,damselfish and other beautiful fish swim amid vibrantly colored coral.
18. FISHES FROM LARGE RIVERS AROUND THE WORLD
  Large freshwater fish,like the pirarucu and the arowana from the Amazon,move powerfully in this tank.Sound,light and a rainsquall are used to recreate a tropical rainforest.
19. UNUSUAL SEALIFE
  Each member of this unusual group of sealife,including the paraoctopus and the white socks,has something unique about them,whether it is their appearance or how they live.
